Due to high patient demand and the limited availability of appointments, we have a $20 no-show fee. You must give advance notice to cancel an appointment or you will be charged the no-show fee.
Cancel your appointment online through myhealth.
- When the SHS is CLOSED, call 415-338-1251 Press #2 on the keypad.
- Please leave a message stating your First Name, Last Name, Student ID number, and the date and time of the appointment you wish to cancel.
- Your message will be date and time stamped.
No shows for appointments will result in an automatic $20.00 bill to your Bursar’s account. The charge will appear on your account the day after your missed appointment.
You may pay this charge at the Bursar Cashier’s. No payments can be accepted at Student Health Services.
Petitions for a "No Show / Late Cancelation Fee Waiver” will only be approved for significant bona-fide reasons.

You have up to one month after your missed appointment to submit your “No Show / Late Cancelation Fee Waiver.” Once submitted it may take up to a week for your waiver to be reviewed and processed. If approved, a reply will be sent to your SF State email address.
Students enrolled in the following SF State programs do not pay a Student Health Fee:
- College of Extended Learning,
- Workshop Institute,
- Thesis (one semester past 899 class only),and
- Employee Fee Waiver students
must pay $60 per general medical visit and plus any additional charges for immunizations, laboratory tests, medications, etc

For students who have a hold on their registration and cannot register for classes:
California State University (CSU)-Sponsored Insurance Policy
After you purchase the CSU-sponsored policy, Wells Fargo Student Insurance Division will automatically notify the SF State Registrar’s Office to release your insurance hold with each purchase. Online purchases will generate a notice immediately. During peak or busiest periods, it may take the Registrar up to one working week to release your registration hold.
Make sure the Registrar can clear your hold in time for your priority registration date.
When buying the CSU-sponsored policy with Wells Fargo Student Insurance Division, make your purchase at least 5 business days before your payment deadline for online purchases, or 15 business days if sending the payment by mail.

Some pharmaceutical companies have programs that help with the cost of medicine. Our Referral Coordinator can help you apply for these programs.
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 1:00 - 3:30 pm
- Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 - 11:15 am
Check in with the information desk when you arrive, and someone will take you to the Referral Coordinator's office.
Important: All email communication will be sent to your SF State email address (@mail.sfsu.edu) with the subject line, "Student Health Services Important Message". This email will provide you with a link to myHealth, where you can access your Student Health Services secure messages.
When your application is sent to the pharmaceutical company, you will a secure message via myHealth. This message will let you know that your medicine will be mailed directly to the address you have listed above, or that the medicine will be delivered to Student Health Services. The pharmaceutical company chooses how to send the medicine.
If your medicine is sent to Student Health Services, you will receive a secure message via myHealth that tells you when and how to pick up your medicine.
Read the information that is sent with your medicine about refills. It will tell you how and when to request refills.
- Requesting medicine refills is your responsibility. Student Health Services will not send you reminders.
- If you do not request your medication refills 3 - 4 weeks before you will run out of your medicine, you may not receive your medicine in time and will have to pay for your refills.
